GRAMMARCHECKER.ME TERMS OF SERVICE

Last updated: December 16, 2025
Effective date: December 16, 2025

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a binding legal agreement between GrammarChecker.me, a company registered in Almaty, Kazakhstan ("we," "us," or "our"), and you regarding your use of our website, browser extensions, and services (collectively, the "Service").

1. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
We may modify these Terms periodically. For material changes affecting your rights or data privacy, we will notify you via email or a prominent notice within the Service. Continued use after such changes constitutes acceptance.
2. SERVICE DESCRIPTION & PRIVACY COMMITMENT
GrammarChecker.me is a privacy-focused grammar checking tool designed to improve your writing using Artificial Intelligence.
2.1 How it Works
The Service processes your text input ("Input") to identify grammatical errors and suggest corrections ("Output").
2.2 Privacy-First Architecture
Unlike many other writing assistants, our architecture is designed for privacy:
No Long-Term Storage: We process your text only to generate corrections and do not store your Input or Output in our databases after the session is complete.
No AI Training: We do not use your text to train our AI models or the models of our third-party providers.
Encryption: Data is transmitted via secure, encrypted protocols (SSL/TLS).
3. ACCOUNT REGISTRATION
3.1 Google Authentication Only.
To access the Service, you must register and sign in using your Google Account ("Google Sign-In"). We do not create separate passwords for your account; your security relies on your Google Account credentials.
3.2 Account Security.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google Account. If your Google Account is compromised, your GrammarChecker.me account may also be accessible. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your Google Account credentials.
3.3 Eligibility.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
4. USE OF SERVICE
4.1 License. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal or professional writing assistance.
4.2 Prohibited Uses. You agree not to:
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service.
Use the Service to generate spam, fraudulent content, or malware.
Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its API access.
Use the Service to build a competitive product.
Automate access to the Service (e.g., via bots or scrapers) without our written permission.
5. CONTENT & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
5.1 Ownership of Your Content.
You retain all rights, title, and interest in and to the text you submit (Input) and the corrected text you receive (Output). We do not claim copyright over your writing.
5.2 License to Us.
Solely to provide the Service, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to process, transmit, and temporarily cache your Content. This license extends to our trusted third-party service providers (see Section 7) strictly as needed to generate corrections.
5.3 Non-Exclusivity of AI Output.
Due to the nature of generative AI, different users may receive identical or similar suggestions for similar inputs (e.g., simple grammar fixes). You acknowledge that the Output provided to you may not be unique and that you do not hold exclusive rights to standard grammatical corrections suggested by the Service.
6. SUBSCRIPTION AND PAYMENTS
6.1 Billing and Payment Processing.
We use Paddle.com ("Paddle") as our trusted payment service provider and Merchant of Record.
How it works: When you subscribe, your payment is processed securely by Paddle. This ensures compliance with international tax laws (including VAT and Sales Tax) applicable to your region.
Data Security: We do not store or have access to your full credit card details. All financial data is handled directly by Paddle’s PCI-compliant infrastructure.
6.2 Subscription Plans.
Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually).
BASIC Plan: Includes 120 checks/month.
PRO Plan: Includes 200 checks/month.
6.3 Automatic Renewal.
To ensure uninterrupted service, your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel it. You authorize Paddle to charge the applicable subscription fee to your payment method.
6.4 Price Changes.
We may change subscription fees at any time. Any price change will become effective at the end of the then-current billing cycle. We will provide you with reasonable prior notice of any change in subscription fees to give you an opportunity to terminate your subscription before such change becomes effective.
6.5 Cancellation.
You may cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings. Cancellation stops future billing but does not refund the current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until the end of your billing cycle.
6.6 Refunds (Money-Back Guarantee).
Since we do not offer a free trial, we provide a 7-day money-back guarantee to allow you to test the Service risk-free.
You are eligible for a full refund if you request it via [email protected] within 7 days of your initial purchase, provided you have not exceeded the Fair Usage Trial Limits:
You have used fewer than 50 checks; AND
You have processed fewer than 10,000 words.
If you meet these criteria, we will refund your payment in full. If you exceed these limits (meaning you have utilized a significant portion of the plan's value), we consider the Service consumed for the current month. In that case, we will not issue a refund, but we can cancel your auto-renewal to prevent future charges.
6.7 Usage Limits.
Each subscription plan has monthly usage limits as specified on our pricing page:
BASIC Plan: 120 checks per month, up to 1,500 words per check.
PRO Plan: 200 checks per month, up to 2,000 words per check.
Unused checks do not roll over to the next month. If you reach your limit, the Service will pause until the next billing cycle, or you may upgrade to a higher plan.

7. AI TECHNOLOGY & THIRD-PARTY PROCESSING
To provide industry-leading accuracy, the Service utilizes API integrations with third-party Large Language Model (LLM) providers (including but not limited to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and others).
7.1 Enterprise-Grade Processing.
We reserve the right to select and switch between high-quality AI providers to optimize Service performance. Regardless of the provider used:
No Training on Your Data: We require our providers to contractually agree (via Enterprise/API terms) that your Input is NOT used to train their public models.
Temporary Retention: Data sent via the API is retained by the provider strictly for the minimum time necessary for processing and abuse monitoring (typically 30 days or less).

7.2 Third-Party Acknowledgment.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that your text is transmitted to our AI partners for processing. While we partner with providers who adhere to strict security standards (SOC2 compliance), you agree that no internet-based service can be 100% secure. We recommend avoiding the submission of highly sensitive confidential information (e.g., trade secrets, financial account numbers, or government-classified documents).
8. DISCLAIMERS
8.1 "AS IS" Service.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
8.2 Accuracy.
Grammar checking is complex. We do not guarantee that the Service will detect every error or that all suggestions will be 100% accurate. You remain responsible for reviewing and verifying the final text.
9. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GRAMMARCHECKER.ME SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, REVENUE, OR PROFITS) ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
10. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
10.1 Governing Law.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
10.2 Jurisdiction.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, including any question regarding their existence, validity, or termination, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
10.3 International Users.
If you access the Service from outside Kazakhstan, you are responsible for compliance with your local laws. Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights under the mandatory laws of your country of residence (e.g., EU Consumer Rights).
